HEIFER FOUNDATION INTERNATIONAL

Heifer Foundation International has been working with God's Gang urban agriculture project since -1997. It is a non-profit organization that has been assisting families in need since 1944 to alleviate hunger, poverty and environmental degradation. HPI encourages development and leadership, provides funding for livestock and supplies, provides technical assistance and enables self-reliance.

  JEWISH COUNCIL ON URBAN AFFAIRS (JCUA) The Jewish Council on Urban Affairs combats poverty, racism and anti-Semitism in partnership with Chicago's diverse communities.

  RAINBOW NETWORK MARKET BASKETS
As a result of our partnership in the Rainbow Network with Milwaukee's Growing Power Community Center, the first deliveries of the weekly fruits and vegetables to the Chicago area, were made the week of April 15th. The Growing Power Community Center is the last remaining farm in Milwaukee.

Every Friday, baskets containing worth of fruits and vegetables direct from source, southern farmers, will be available for pick up from a God's Gang site. Orders must be placed by Monday evening for that week's delivery.

God's Gang has committed to selling a minimum of 10 baskets each week at a cost of only to you, the buyer.

  TRADE SHOWS AND FAIRS

GREEN AND GROWING

God's Gang participated in the 10th annual Green and Growing Fair held at the Garfield Park Conservatory.

"The Healing Garden: Earth ... Body ... Spirit" celebrated the natural relationship of a garden to its gardeners and to our city. The fun-filled learning day showed how to understand the garden's power to create healthy, productive, diverse, fulfilling, and sustainable urban green spaces.

Workshops, demonstrations, plant sales and organic food were offered.

GARDEN FAIRE 2002

GARDEN FAIRE 2002 was a one-day
horticultural event sponsored by the
University of Illinois Extension, the Master Gardeners of Chicago, and the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences.

Representatives from God's Gang conducted demonstrations and discussed the programs they offer. The seminars and workshops
covered a wide variety of topics and were
presented by speakers with knowledge and experience in their field of expertise
